About the Programme

The Bulgarian citizenship programme provides an opportunity to relocate to Europe within a short period for entrepreneurs, information technology specialists, lawyers, and experts in various fields. The status of a citizen of a European Union country ensures the right to free employment, access to high-quality education, and the opportunity to acquire real estate in any EU country without restrictions.
For entrepreneurs, a Bulgarian passport opens unrestricted access to the European market, simplifies financial transactions, and provides an opportunity to optimise tax liabilities. For families, the new status provides confidence in the future, ensures security, flexibility, and the right to relocate to any European Union country without bureaucratic complications. A Bulgarian passport will become your key to stability, mobility, and new opportunities in Europe.

Rights and Opportunities with a Bulgarian Passport

Global mobility

A Bulgarian passport ranks 7th in the global passport ranking and grants the right to travel visa-free to 170 countries, including the states of the Schengen Area, China, and Japan.

Freedom of choice

Holders of Bulgarian citizenship may choose any European Union country for permanent residence without obtaining additional permits.

High-quality education

Obtaining a Bulgarian passport will allow you to secure education for your children at prestigious universities of the European Union with the right to apply for grants and scholarships from the state or private foundations.

Healthcare

Holders of a Bulgarian passport may receive medical care at leading clinics in Europe using the European Health Insurance Card.

State support

Bulgaria offers its citizens social support, including pension provision, disability benefits, child care benefits, and unemployment benefits.

Employment

With a Bulgarian passport, you will obtain the right to freely take up employment in any EU country on an equal basis with local residents and without additional permits.

Business development

Businesspersons holding Bulgarian citizenship gain access to the EU market with an audience of more than 450 million, which opens additional opportunities for business expansion.

European citizenship for descendants

The Government of Bulgaria does not require renunciation of the first passport; you are also entitled to pass citizenship on to your children by descent.

Visa-Free Destinations with a Bulgarian Passport

Processing of Bulgarian citizenship under a simplified procedure

A Bulgarian passport grants the right to visit 170 countries without obtaining a visa in advance.

Visa Free (visa-free regime) — 116 countries

A Bulgarian passport grants the right to cross the borders of European Union countries without visas, as well as to conduct business, reside permanently, and study in any of the member states.

27 European Union countries (Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Luxembourg and other).

Visa on arrival — 46 countries

A Bulgarian passport provides the right to visit more than 40 countries without obtaining a visa at a consulate or online — this may be done upon arrival at the destination.

ETA (electronic travel authorisation) — 8 countries

With a Bulgarian passport, it is possible to cross the borders of a number of countries without visiting a consulate or visa centre — the visa may be arranged online, which takes a minimum amount of time.

When obtaining visas to Canada and the United States, citizens of Bulgaria enjoy a clear advantage compared to residents of post-Soviet countries. For example, the refusal rate for U.S. visas for Bulgarians is 6%, which is significantly lower than 20% — the average refusal rate for CIS countries. In the case of Canadian visas, Bulgarians are refused in approximately 1% of cases, whereas for the post-Soviet republics the average number of refusals is very high.

We Accompany You Through Every Stage

1 stage

Your path to obtaining citizenship with Jurpass begins with a personal consultation. A specialist studies your goals and circumstances, develops an individual action plan, and answers your questions.

2 stage

At this stage, you complete a questionnaire containing questions about your ancestors and enter into an agreement with the Company, which clearly sets out the obligations of the parties, the timeframes for performance, and the cost of services. This guarantees full transparency and predictability of the process.

3 stage

In order for the supervising authority to accept the documents for consideration, they must be prepared in accordance with Bulgarian law — our lawyers take care of this. All foreign documents are translated into Bulgarian, legalised, and apostilled.

4 stage

Jurpass specialists book a date for you to file documents with the Ministry of Justice of Bulgaria. In most cases, our lawyers arrange filing within 1–1.5 months, which significantly accelerates the process.

5 stage

The prepared dossier is submitted to the Ministry of Justice of Bulgaria, after which the case is assigned a registration number for status tracking.

6 stage

The review of the application lasts on average 12–18 months. Following a positive decision, the President of Bulgaria issues a decree granting citizenship, and you will be notified thereof by an official letter.

7 stage

After the decree is issued, you will be provided with a certificate confirming acquisition of Bulgarian citizenship, and the originals of the submitted documents will be returned to you.

8 stage

The final step is the processing of domestic documents. After obtaining address registration and being assigned an EGN (Unified Civil Number), a set of documents is submitted for issuance of an identity card. This document opens the way to obtaining an EU passport and confirms your status as a full citizen of the European Union.

For work, I often had to visit Sweden and felt quite comfortable there. Moreover, I had developed many professional contacts, and the issue of employment was being resolved well. However, I had absolutely no desire to go through the entire lengthy path of naturalisation. At Yurpass, they suggested using my mother’s Bulgarian nationality. Accordingly, they arranged a Bulgarian passport for me, with which I was able to move to Sweden. The lawyers worked conscientiously — efficiently and professionally.

I would like to thank Jurpass for its assistance in processing Bulgarian citizenship. My ancestors were deported to the territory of the Russian Federation at the beginning of the last century. However, we tried to preserve our identity and were always active members of the Bulgarian diaspora in Russia. Now, due to political and economic instability, I decided to return to my historical homeland. Fortunately, I had all the documents confirming Bulgarian nationality in hand. But the lawyers took over all the bureaucratic work and procedural complexities. I received my passport in 14 months. I am grateful to you for the work done!

I am very glad that I turned specifically to you. You are doing an excellent job — the processing of Bulgarian citizenship went perfectly. I did not have to strain myself much, because the lawyers took on most of the tasks. There was some anxiety, of course, but they also provide excellent support. Thank you very much!

My wife and I were satisfied with your work. We had long wanted to move to the EU, where things are calmer. We decided to turn to professionals, and acquaintances recommended Yurpass. They advised us to use my wife’s Bulgarian origin. They found all the documents, helped us submit them, and go through the interview. Now my wife has a passport, and we live in France. Thank you very much for your work.
